Okay im first then
Im from: Norway. Living here but was born in Peru, Lima
My age: 18. Turns 19 the 8july
Why im here: Cuz Run-DMC is the group that got me innto HipHop. And that happend just recently in 1998. Yeah it took me a while .
I was a kid just 12 in that period and after hearing the JasonNevins remix of "its like that" i got a bit interested and went to the record store to check out this "new-rap-group". I grabbed the GreatestHits 1983-1991 and plugged my hedphones.
I was never the same again, ever. Sucker MC on stereo came and messes up my head. Wow, what a beat. Shit, that guy , that voice.
I never in my dreams imagind that a rapper could just take in charge, controll of the song/music like that.
What i do today: I rap and rhyme like my heroes Run and D and i cut the record on the 1210s like Jay (thanks to u im cutting wax. thanx 4everythinh Jay).
5 favourit bands: Run DMC. Beastie Boys. PublicEnemy. Red Hot Chili Peppers. John Frusciante
Favourit song(s): Sucker MC. RHCP-californication. TheCure-POY
Hobbies & Interests: MC'ing. Playing my FenderStrat. DJ'ing.
Im participating in the Norwegian DMC finals in august. Wish me the best luck yall
Peace |

Mark from Canada....massive fan (I say the biggest, but doesn't everyone) since 84. Before Run DMC kicked me in the brain and blew up my ear drums, all I knew to do was listen to my dad's music (hey I was 9). It's been non-stop Run DMC since (now 30). I've seen them live many times and have been lucky enough to meet them, which I mentioned in here under a different topic. Jay and D are complete class acts. The longest chill-out I ever had was with my best friend and Jay. He was out by the concession stands in Toronto's Molson Amphitheatre before rockin the crowd as warm-ups for Aerosmith and Kid Rock (I sitll think that's illegal...Run DMC opening for ANYONE). Anyway, that day Jay chilled for AWHILE....coolest man who ever walked the Earth. He was the definition of humble. I told him about the brilliant production he was involved in for "Crown Royal". He was 100% humble, looked down at his Adidas and said "thanks....thanks". I was like "NOOOO....THANK YOU! Thank you for all the music!" I had no idea how important it would be that I got to say those words to him . That conversation took place Sept 2002. Me and that same friend drove from Canada to attend the wake and got in for the pubilic section for the funeral. The eulogoy was one recital I never, ever wanted to witness from D and Run. But we had to go. Jay is missed and D is held high for his strength and class in carrying Jay's legacy and for battling on as a true artist. |

I'm here because I've been listening to Run DMC 19 years now (damn). I live in northern Wisconsin and back in the 80's rap music was non existent around here. Everyone was into Van Halen or Whitesnake in my school. I remember being 10 or so and seeing Kurtis Blow's video Basketball on Nick Rocks and Chaka Khan's video I Feel For You where they were scratching the record, but I didn't really understand it was rap/hip hop.
It was 1986 when the Beastie Boys came on the scene strong and Run DMC wasn't far behind and that was my introduction to rap. After buying any rap magazines I could find that had articles about Run DMC or the Beasties I found out that Run DMC had two albums out before Raisin' Hell. I conned my mom into ordering those for me from the record store (I was only 13 at this time) and after that my collection kept growing, whether it was Eric B. & Rakim or EPMD or Public Enemy etc... I've got over 500 cassettes and 200 CD's.
For the most part I really can't get into new rap these days, but I listen to the old school stuff all the time. Can't wait for the new album to drop. |

It all started in 1986 when I heard "Walk This Way" on the radio in Beaumont, Texas (at age 15) and I've been a fan since that day. My favorite album is "Tougher Than Leather" and I own a pair of Run DMC edition adidas Superstar shoes. |

Just an old school Kanadian kicking it down south that's been Jamming to some DMC since the early 80's...........
Been to several concerts over the years................
All I got to say is them were the best darn shows I have seen in my life.
Make No mistake DMC is as real as they get.............Yes I have met him "Essence Fest New Orleans" If your reading D Just remember the airport pick up and then again Orlando Tell E Blam I said hey
Cannot wait till yeah start touring again.............
As they say it might be Run House but... DMC is still the King
I am happy and proud to see D doing his thing once again.....
If this was the world of Boxing I would have to say pound for pound DMC is the best there was.......
So what his voice has changed, but his mind and ryhmes are still tite........ like Ali your still the greatest...........
These are the roughest toughest words I have ever wrote down Man.....
So are you "Down with the King"
Now hit it D |

Alright, so here it is.
I'm 26 now. I've been a fan of Run-DMC since I was 7 years old when some kid at the end of my street had cassette tapes of Raising Hell and King of Rock.
I grew up in suburban New Jersey. Actually not too far from where Naughty By Nature, Queen Latifah, Redman, and Lauryn Hill are from.
But anyway, for me it's always been--and it will always be--about Run-DMC. The hardest lyrics, the strongest flow, the deffest (sp?) delivery...all cuts are on time and rhymes connect...
These days, I like all sorts of music (bluegrass? check. indie-rock? check) and a lot of different rappers.
But there's always going to be something special about Run-DMC...the first band that got me into any sort of music at all.
As far as I'm concerned nothing will ever touch Run-DMC. Everything they've done--from Run-DMC to Crown Royal--seminal, genius, flawless. It's been said before: They're the Beatles of Rap.
{sigh} I only saw them in concert once, in 1999. Best show I've ever been to. From the first to the last, they rocked the crowd. Their shit was insane. And then they stayed behind and signed EVERY AUTOGRAPH on the $5 posters.
They were three classy dudes. It's a damned shame what happened to Jay.
But nothing can erase the legacy: Best. Rappers. Ever. |
